Dec 16, 2009
The Kenora Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce that at our Regular Board Meeting held on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 the annual elections for the position of Chair and Vice Chair was held. Darryl Michaluk was elected Chair and Mike Favreau was elected Vice Chair, both securing their positions for the second year in a row.
After Michaluk was presented with the gavel he accepted the gavel with opening remarks……”through diligence, hard work and powered by prayer, the vision of many has come to pass in 2009. All of our partners and Catholic Education
Community have worked and prayed together to see many achievements and accomplishments over the past year. The opening of the new north wing addition at St. Thomas Aquinas High School as well the new state-of-the-art Multi-Skills Training Centre of Excellence. An ongoing and successful amalgamation of St. John’s Separate School. We have seen our students achieve not only academically and athletically but also spiritually. Our Catholic Education Community is more alive, vibrant and thriving than ever before and it’s really all about coming together as a team, with a common vision and common goals, to offer our students, a first rate, quality education, infused with gospel values. I strongly believe the Catholic education we provide our students will carry them well through their lives. I am grateful and proud to be a part of this team of Trustees. I would like to thank all the Trustees for their support and untiring devotion to this calling and know that our next year together will bear not just good fruit but great fruit.”
Following the elections Mike Favreau commented……”personally I am very happy with the results of the election and
honored by the confidence entrusted in my by my fellow trustees. As we enter the final year of our 4 year mandate, it’s
really nice to see all of our visions come to fruition and be able to continue to work with all levels of government to see new dreams and goals be realized. As Trustees of the Kenora Catholic District School Board every decision we make and goal we set is to continue to find new and innovative ways for our students to learn, excel and thrive, not only academically but also holistically as a whole person.”
Phyllis Eikre, Director of Education comments…”our school Board is very blessed to have a dedicated group of Trustees that are truly devoted in seeing our students achieve everything that God has envisioned for them. There is a great synergy in the group of trustees we have and it’s a great pleasure and an honor to work with both Darryl Michaluk and Mike Favreau in their roles for another year.”
