The Kenora Catholic District School Board (KCDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Shawna Lamme as the new principal of St. John School in Red Lake, effective January 1, 2025. Shawna will be transitioning into her new role with the support and guidance of the current Principal, Corinna Glazier.
Director of Education Nicole Kurtz expressed her support for Shawna Lamme’s appointment, "Shawna’s dedication to living out our Catholic values in her daily interactions and leadership will strengthen the close-knit environment we cherish at St. John School. Her genuine approach has fostered deep connections with students, staff, families, and the broader community. Her investment in the school and commitment to student success, especially in special education, is truly inspiring and will significantly benefit the school as she takes on the role of Principal.”
With 17 years of teaching experience and a heartfelt commitment to student success, Shawna Lamme brings a wealth of experience to St. John School. She has served as a Classroom Teacher, Learning Resource Teacher, Empower Reading Intervention Teacher, and has held various leadership roles, including School Improvement Plan member, Board Improvement Plan member, Teacher in Charge, and OECTA Executive Member. Shawna is passionate about promoting and supporting diversity and inclusivity within the school. Her background in special education has equipped her with the skills and insight to meet each student’s unique needs and help them succeed.
Shawna Lamme shared her thoughts on the transition and her new role, stating, "I look forward to continuing to lead in ways that help St. John School thrive, focusing on the commitment to academic excellence and spiritual growth while preserving the meaningful traditions that make SJS an amazing place to learn and grow. I am grateful to Corinna Glazier for her mentorship and the strong foundation she has established, and I am excited to build upon our achievements.”
