As part of the OYAP (Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program) initiative to promote skilled trades across the Kenora Catholic District School Board, Ms. Adams, a skilled baker and decorator, recently visited our Grade 4 students to share her expertise in the baking and decorating trades.

During the event, Ms. Adams introduced the students to various technical skills involved in the trade, guiding them through both the basics of baking and the intricate art of decorating. The students had the chance to practice these techniques, learning how attention to detail plays a key role in creating beautiful and delicious treats.

The highlight of the day came when the students were given the opportunity to unleash their creativity by decorating their own cupcakes. Using colorful icing, sprinkles, and other edible decorations, each student crafted their own unique and sweet creation.

This hands-on experience not only introduced the students to the skilled trades but also encouraged them to explore the endless possibilities that the baking and decorating fields have to offer. It was a fun and creative way to inspire our young learners and help them envision a future in skilled trades.
