The Kenora Catholic District School Board’s Summer Learning Program wrapped up three incredible weeks of growth, connection, and creativity. With an amazing team of educators and enthusiastic students, the program offered a rich blend of academic learning, cultural exploration, and summer fun.
Each morning focused on strengthening numeracy and literacy skills, with students engaging in daily prayer in English, Ojibwe, French, and Spanish, reflecting the program’s celebration of diversity and inclusion.
Week one was especially memorable with a visit to Pinecrest for the Teddy Bear Picnic, sponsored by the Kenora Public Library, Rotary, and Pinecrest. Students had the opportunity to read to Therapeutic Paws dogs and enjoy a puppet show to practice oral literacy in a playful way.
Afternoons came alive with hands-on learning and creativity. Highlights included:

Sewing sock monkeys

A spirited badminton tournament

Woodworking, Lego building, and Rigamajig creations

Singing, dancing, and storytelling

Artistic projects using recycled materials

Writing original songs

Outdoor and indoor organized games
Throughout the program, students shared daily reflections of gratitude, building community and mindfulness.
We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Northwest Health Unit for generously providing nutritious snacks each day. Their support helped fuel our students' energy and learning throughout the program.

We are so grateful to our dedicated educators, community partners, and the phenomenal students who made the 2025 Summer Learning Program a huge success. God creates, and this summer, we were truly blessed.
