Labour Update Kenora Catholic Schools Remain Open

Labour Update #2

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) labour action that you may be hearing about in our communities and across the province does not impact the Kenora Catholic District School Board.

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) has served Notice of Strike Action, outlining a full withdrawal of services in the form of a one-day walkout on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. Our staff are not members of OSSTF and will not be participating in the full withdrawal of services. All Kenora Catholic schools will remain open, and student learning will continue as normal.

At the Kenora Catholic District School Board, we work with two union groups: the Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association (OECTA) representing Permanent and Occasional Teachers and the Ontario Public Service Employees' Union (OPSEU) representing Education Assistants, Early Childhood Educators and Lunch Hour Monitors.

Negotiations with the province are still ongoing with OECTA.

As a Catholic School Board, we are committed to the labour negotiation process. If there is any impact on regular school operations, parents and students will be notified, and regular updates will be emailed to you and posted on our Board website.

We encourage you to ensure that your email address and contact information is updated and accurate with your school. Please regularly check the KCDSB website at where we will post information about Labour Updates at Kenora Catholic.
