Election Day is October 26, 2026

Municipal and School Board Elections will be held across Ontario on Monday, October 26, 2026.

During the election, eligible electors will vote for School Board Trustees who will help provide governance and oversight for Catholic education within the Kenora Catholic District School Board.

Trustees are elected in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act and serve four-year terms under the Education Act. The 2026–2030 term of office begins November 15, 2026.

The Role of a Catholic School Trustee

Catholic School Board Trustees play an important role in publicly funded Catholic education by representing the voice of students, families, parishes, and communities within the governance framework established by the Education Act and Ministry of Education direction.

Trustees work collaboratively as members of the Board to:

- support student achievement, well-being, and Catholic education
- provide governance and ensure accountability
- establish Board policies and strategic direction in accordance with provincial legislation and Ministry requirements
- represent local community perspectives within the Board's decision-making process
- support responsible stewardship of public resources
- uphold the mission and values of Catholic education

All school board trustees serve as an important link between the school system and the community. Trustees exercise their role collectively through the Board, in accordance with provincial legislation, regulations, and Board policies.

Trustee Representation

For the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections, the Board has approved the following Trustee distribution:

Five (5) Trustees representing Kenora
One (1) Trustee representing Red Lake

This structure was approved by the Board in accordance with provincial regulations and population data requirements and will be in effect for the October 26, 2026 election.

School Support Designation

Your school support designation determines which school board you support and which trustee election you can participate in during Municipal and School Board Elections.

Unless you have selected otherwise, school support in Ontario defaults to the English Public school board.

To help ensure you are included on the correct voters list for the October 2026 election, school support designations should be reviewed and, if needed, updated by June 1, 2026.
