Bus Delays and Cancellations
During inclement weather, if school buses are cancelled, all Kenora Catholic District School Board schools will remain open for students and staff who can safely attend.
If families decide it’s unsafe to travel, the decision to keep your child(ren) home is entirely yours. Please notify your child’s school if they will be absent.
Bus cancellations can impact student learning for those unable to attend in person. On these days, secondary students should check their Google Classroom or other platform (where applicable) for assignments and activities posted by their teacher to support and continue their learning.
Bus delays are posted in the KCDSB App under "School Bus Alerts" and are posted by the Northwestern Ontario Student Services Consortium (NWOSSC). Bus cancellations affecting Kenora or Red Lake/Ear Falls will also be shared on the KCDSB website and social media sites.
For the most up-to-date information on bus delays or cancellations, visit the
NWOSSC website and follow them on Facebook. Families can also sign up for alerts by visiting the NWOSSC website and subscribing to notifications.
School Closures
On rare occasions, such as severe weather or power outages, KCDSB schools and board sites may close to students and staff. If this occurs:
Teachers may post activities to Google Classrooms for students to access.
Staff may be asked not to report to work in person and to work remotely, if feasible.
