Mark Richards Announced as Vice Principal at St. Thomas Aquinas High School

Mark RichardsMark RichardsThe Kenora Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce that Mark Richards has accepted the position of Vice Principal at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He will begin his new role at the start of the 2021 – 2022 school year, joining Kylie Hughes as the incoming Principal and Travis Batters as Vice Principal.

“We are looking forward to Mark joining the administration team at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in September of 2021, says Kylie Hughes. “His experience as both a substitute administrator along with his Vice Principalship at St. Isidore Virtual School will provide a smooth transition for Mark into his new role as Vice Principal at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He is well-respected by students, staff and parents and has strong relationships throughout the school, community and the Church. Mark’s servant leadership, calm demeanour and strong organizational skills will be an asset to the school community.”

Nicole Kurtz, current Principal of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, will be moving into the Superintendent of Instructional Services role at the end of the 2021 - 2022 school year.

“Mark has strong Catholic values and beliefs that have empowered him to be a faith-filled leader who strives to model these attributes and behaviours in everything he does, says Nicole Kurtz. “He is compassionate, honest, empathetic and will work hard as part of the team at St. Thomas Aquinas High School to move student achievement and well-being forward.”

Mark Richards has 11 years of experience as an educator and has served as secondary Vice Principal at St. Isidore Virtual School and a teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He’s Junior, Intermediate and Senior Division qualified, holds his Principal’s Qualification Program I and II, as well as Integration of Information and Computer Technology Specialist and has a Bachelor of Mathematics and Education from the University of Windsor.

I am looking forward to contributing to the already established reputation of excellence in academics, athletics and arts programming in my new role as Vice Principal.”
