Michelle Kurtz Announced as Vice Principal for St. Thomas Aquinas High School


The Kenora Catholic District School Board (KCDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Kurtz as the new Vice Principal of St. Thomas Aquinas High School (STAHS), effective July 1, 2025. Michelle has been a valued member of the STAHS community for over 13 years, bringing a wealth of experience as a Catholic educator with a diverse background in Physical Education, Guidance, and Co-operative Education. She has supported students academically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually throughout her career. Her commitment to fostering safe, inclusive learning environments and her dedication to student success will continue to be a tremendous asset to the STAHS community.
Mark Richards, incoming Principal at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, shared: “Michelle has always brought a thoughtful, caring approach to everything she does at STAHS. She understands the needs of our students and staff and is always ready to listen, support, and build strong relationships within our school community. Michelle is deeply respected by her colleagues for her dedication and tireless commitment to our students. Her experience and background will be invaluable to the role as Vice Principal. I’m excited to work alongside Michelle Kurtz and Jared Ralko to continue creating a faith-filled, welcoming environment for everyone at St. Thomas Aquinas.”

Michelle Kurtz expressed her commitment to this new role:

The KCDSB also welcomes the new leadership team at St. Thomas Aquinas High School for the 2025–2026 school year: Principal Mark Richards, Vice Principal Jared Ralko, and incoming Vice Principal Michelle Kurtz. This team will be in place for the start of the new school year, ready to continue the tradition of excellence and foster a supportive, faith-filled environment for all students, staff, and families.
