Questions or Concerns About Your Child's Education

At the Kenora Catholic District School Board, we believe open communication and strong relationships between families and schools are important to student success.

In June 2024, the Ministry of Education issued PPM (Policy/Program Memorandum) 170. Part of PPM 170 directs school boards to develop a protocol for communicating with parents. This protocol sets out standards for responding to inquiries.

  
Who Should I Contact?

If you have a question or concern about your student's education, start by speaking with your child's teacher. If you need additional support, contact the school principal. Most questions and concerns can be addressed directly at the school level through open communication and collaboration.

 
Start with Your Child's Teacher

Questions or concerns related to your student's learning, progress, classroom experience or day-to-day school experience should first be discussed with your student's teacher or the staff member most directly involved.

Contact the School Principal

If you need additional support or your question or concern has not been addressed, contact the school principal.

Still Need Support?

If you have spoken with your student's teacher and principal and still need support, the KCDSB Student & Family Support Office can help.

The office can answer questions, provide information and support, and help connect you with the appropriate school board staff or services.

Board level: An appropriate board staff member will address broader inquiries based on the specific nature of the topic.

  
Report an Incident

If you would like to make a report of an incident of bullying, racism, or hate, you can do so through our Reporting Portal.

Timelines and Report Back

Parents can expect to receive acknowledgement of their inquiry/concern within 2 business days. If a response cannot be fully provided within 5 business days, parents will be notified and provided with an estimated date of response.
