Protocol for Responding to Inquiries

Responding to Inquiries
At the KCDSB, we recognize that open and ongoing communication with families is key to student success. By working together and keeping the lines of communication clear, we create a strong support system that helps every child thrive academically and spiritually.

In June 2024, the Ministry of Education issued PPM (Policy/Program Memorandum) 170. Part of PPM 170 directs school boards to develop a protocol for communicating with parents. This protocol sets out standards for responding to inquiries.

Process

Parents/guardians are encouraged to bring forward inquiries regarding their child’s education through the following levels:

Classroom level
: Inquiries should be directed to the classroom teacher or relevant support staff.

School level: School administration staff will respond to questions related to school-wide inquiries or unresolved classroom-level inquiries.
Board level: An appropriate board staff member will address broader inquiries based on the specific nature of the topic.
