The Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF) Exam

The Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF) is an internationally recognized certification that assesses a student’s proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in French. Core French - Building Confidence in French

Our Core French program is available at St. Louis Living Arts School (Keewatin), St. John Paul II School (Kenora), St. Thomas Aquinas High School (Kenora), and St. John School (Red Lake).

Core French provides students with a strong foundation in French language skills while fostering an appreciation for French-Canadian culture. Through interactive lessons, storytelling, music, and real-world activities, students develop the ability to understand and communicate in French with confidence.

At the elementary level, students gradually build their skills, accumulating a minimum of 600 hours of French instruction by the end of Grade 8. In high school, they can continue their studies through academic, applied, and open courses in Grades 9 and 10, with university preparation and open courses available in Grades 11 and 12.

Learning French strengthens problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills, creating future opportunities in education, travel, and careers. Whether continuing with French studies or applying their skills in everyday life, Core French helps students gain the benefits of bilingualism in a welcoming and engaging learning environment.
